About Rochelle and her Blog
- When did you start blogging and why?
I started blogging originally at university while I was studying journalism. Journalism is really fact based and sometimes I just needed somewhere to escape and write my personal opinions which is completely restricted in print journalism. I never kept up with blogging though until this year where I make a point of posting twice weekly on rochellehughes.com
- What topics does your blog cover?
I cover a lot of topics, from job goals to relationships. It’s a bit like my online diary but I do try and make all of my stuff topical and in keeping with my style of writing. I want to break in to beauty and fashion but not feeling confident about that side of me at the moment! https://rochellehughes.com/2017/08/18/diary-confidence/
- What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done in your life?
The craziest thing I've ever done. Hmmm. This is where I start to think back on my life and realise I'm actually really boring! I guess the craziest thing I've ever done is taking the train down to London and then deciding to fly back up north. The flight only took about 25 minutes haha!
- What’s your biggest achievement and why are you proud of it?
My biggest achievement is landing my job in journalism. I'm so proud that I finally got into the field after years of fighting for it. I was constantly told that it wasn’t going to happen but I showed everyone that it can be done. Although it hasn't always been journalism, when I was a kid I wanted to be a vet (https://rochellehughes.com/2017/06/03/i-wanted-to-be-a-vet/)
- What’s your all-time favourite quote?
Harper Lee: “People generally see what they look for and hear what they listen for.”
About Rochelle's Lifestyle
- How would you describe your lifestyle?
I'd say I'm pretty lucky. I have a full-time job, a house, a dog, a great boyfriend and a fantastic mum. I'm a pretty average girl really who likes home comforts. I really like travelling too but I don't get to do it as much as I'd like. I'm a creature of habit I like my routines unless I plan in that I'm not having a routine one day.
- If there was one thing you could change about yourself, what would it be and why?
I'd normally say my weight but that's not something that can't be changed. Just takes determination, which I've got at the moment so maybe I'll say my salary instead haha!
- Where do you live and what do you love about it?
I'm from a town called Scunthorpe. It's not everyone's cup of tea and it has a really bad reputation but it's home to me. Even though it's quite a big town there's a sense of community there. It doesn't matter where you are in Scunthorpe or who you are talking to there will be a link that you have with a stranger.
- Who is the biggest influence in your life right now, and why?
My biggest influence right now is Callie Thorpe. I absolutely love her. The way she spoke out after she was abused online for appearing in Vogue was honourable. She gave all women a voice. Plus her style is amazing. She actually inspired me to start exercising again after watching her instagram story. She's my woman-crush-everyday at the moment!
- If you only had one day left to live, how would you spend it?
My last day on earth. I would wake up, and my boyfriend would have already been up and made me a coffee and scrambled egg on toast. We'd eat that at the kitchen table and play a game of cards. We'd then go and visit my mum with the dogs and have a cuppa with her and take the dogs for a walk. Then Martyn and I would go for a hot air balloon ride. And then in the evening I would eat my favourite barbecue ribs and cheesy chips and watch fireworks somewhere... That was pretty detailed I've never thought about that before.... haha.
