Bali a beautiful island located in Indonesia, also known as the “Island of the gods”. Bali is a place you can have any type of holiday you want, from lazing on the beach to partying all night, to exploring the numerous cultural sights and off the beaten track places, not forgetting the amazing landscapes and waterfalls on the island. You can even take a few day trips or nights to it's surrounding islands such as Gili Islands, Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and if you have plenty of time maybe a few nights on some of its other islands such as Lombok and Java.
Here is a short guide of some of the surrounding Islands you can explore & visit on your trip to Bali.
Are a group of three Islands. You can get a boat over from Bali mainland.
From Padang Bali it takes about 90 mins

Gili Trawagan: Is a backpackers paradise, this is the busiest and liveliest island of the three, they have a range of accommodations that will suit all budgets. You can cycle around the island in an hour, there are no cars on this island. The island has a big Muslim population and you will hear from the mosque the call to prayer 5 times a day. The island is known for its stunning beaches and crystal clear waters. There are many parts of the island you can escape to, and get some peace and quiet too. The island is the most popular of the three, due to it having a party atmosphere, as it has numerous dining options, bars, and tons of lively beach bars. After this island, the next two will provide you with some much-needed rest and relaxation.
Gili Air: Lies between Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno, it is the preferred choice for travelers who want to experience the quiet side of island life, it is the perfect island for a romantic trip or honeymoon or even just to chill out on. It is said the white sand beaches on this island are the best out of the 3 islands, and you can snorkel right from the beach. There are no motorized vehicles on this island, you will find mostly beach bungalows and places to eat and drink here and lots of beautiful beaches to explore.
Gili Meno: Is the remotest and the least developed island out the 3 Gili Islands, this is the perfect escape for people who want to feel like there are on a desert island, relaxed and secluded, it offers you a natural paradise feel. You can walk around the outskirts of the island in two hours. There are many dining options here and a great place to base if you want to go diving.

Nusa Penida is a beautiful tropical island well now for its fantastic scenery/cliff formations/lagoons and temples. There are only a few hotels and lodges, and limited infrastructure on the island, which retains its charm and natural beauty and wilderness. There are numerous things to do and see on the island, and spending a few days here is the perfect adventure. The island boasts some of the best dive sites where you can see: Mola-Mola, Mantra Rays, at times whale sharks, as well as loads of other types of marine life.
Visit the tropical beaches such a Crystal Bay, Atuh beach, and Pasih Uug, there are loads of other beaches too you will find as you explore the island and hidden coves. The island also has several temples you can visit such as the famous Hindu temple called, Giri Putri which is in a limestone cave in a village on the island called Karangsari, the grand temple called Pura Penataran in a village called Ped and Pura Paluang temple. Angel's Billabong is a beautiful lagoon that some people swim in depending on the tide.

Nusa Lembongan & Nusa Ceningan
Hop on a boat from Bali and you will arrive on Nusa Lembongan, a stunning island about 45 minutes from Bali. The island can be explored in 3-4 hours and there are many day trips you can do from Bali, be warned once you get here you will regret to staying. This island has a very relaxed pace and is a perfect place away from the hustle and bustle of Bali. Once on the island, you can cross a bridge to Nusa Ceningan Island, a less busy island to explore too. There are no vehicles on the island other than buggies you can rent / motorbikes and small taxi vans, and of course, you can cycle too. The two islands have lots of types of accommodation to cater for all budgets and plenty of places to eat and drink. You can explore the beaches here, go on driving and snorkeling trips and dive with the mantras. There are also lots of incredible viewpoints around both the islands.

If you want to experience how Bali was like 15-20 years ago Lombok is a must visit island. There is a range of ways to you can to the island such as by flight, ferry or fast boast. The island has lots of pristine beaches, waterfalls and amazing hikes. Senggigi is the main tourist hub on the island, with the largest choice of accommodation, bars, and restaurants. Some of the main attractions on the island are beach hopping, scenic viewpoints, secluded jungle waterfalls, cultural sights such a temples and mosques, mountain trekking, visiting local traditional villages and island hopping.
Indonesia is a country rich in cultural diversity, and a country with approx 300 ethnic groups and 700 languages. It is one of the largest countries in the world and has approx. 17,500 islands. Java is a fascinating island to visit, it lies between Sumatra and Bali, its capital Jakarta it's a massive city with its own list of attractions to see. Java is often missed as most people head to Bali and the other islands. Java has the famous active volcano Mount Bromo and many other famous sights such a Prambanan and Borobudur Temples, museums, historical sights, markets, beaches, rainforests, and caves, amongst many more magical sights around the island. This is a must see island if you love culture and exploring.
