Lyf&Spice is all about travel and food.

About Aditi and her Blog

  • When did you start blogging and why?

I started blogging around mid-2015 when I shifted base to Malaysia and started travelling more than ever. The intention was to document my travel and food tales along the way. I started writing about Malaysia and gradually moved on to other South East Asian cities and India as I travelled impulsively. The idea behind the blog is to inspire my readers to travel and give them tips, while helping non-travellers experience these countries through virtual tours on my blog.

  • What topics does your blog cover?

Travel and Food – It covers travel tips, tricks, suggestions and in-depth guides, especially on South East Asian countries, as well as local food feeds with a list of the top 5-10 food items and restaurants to visit in the cities I travel to.

  • What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?

Travel: Gondola ride on a manually-operated gondola suspended over ropes between deadly cliffs at Timang Beach, Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Food: Tried all sorts of bizarre food right from honey bees, cow lungs, rotten fish sauce to frogs, organ soup and more.

  • What’s your idea of a fun day?

Hiking with friends, exploring a new restaurant over lunch and a quiet (quality) dinner with family.

  • What’s your all-time favourite quote?

It’s actually an advertisement slogan by the beverage company, Mountain Dew that goes ‘Darr ke aage jeet hai’ (Hindi), which means that ‘Beyond fear lies victory’.

About Travel

  • What 3 things have you learnt from traveling?

It humbles you.

It’s OK if things don’t go as per your plan; you can always find your way around it.

  • What activities do you do when traveling (sports, sightseeing, beach, museums, …)?

Hiking, diving, street-walking, local food tasting.

  • What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you while you were traveling?

Does a failed rock-climbing effort, screaming my lungs out while zip-lining for the first time, or turning upside down while hovering during my first Scuba lesson before getting certified count? ?

  • What are your favourite travel apps?

SkyScanner, Grab, TripAdvisor, Traveloka.

  • What is your dream destination and why?

I’ve always wanted to roam the streets of New York City on a solo trip, while eating every flavour of ice cream possible and stop by at cafes to finish writing a book (*dream*).
