About Tommy and his Blog
- When did you start blogging and why?
I only started blogging about a month or so ago. So very very new to the concept. Although, I have been trying to write blog-like pieces of writing for a while now. I started blogging as a means to express myself. Express my passion for story writing and travelling together as one. I wanted to create a place where people can go to read about adventures at a destination in a more personal and submerged way. So they can experience what I have experienced.
- What topics does your blog cover?
The topics my blog covers are mostly, for now, travel and life events. I hope to branch out into reviews and maybe some literature writing, but for now, it will stay as a travel and lifestyle blog.
- What is your biggest motivation in life?
My biggest motivation in life has to be to be more than average. I do not want to live my life going through the motions, living day by day. I want to make a difference. Do something more than the average person. Be something more. That’s my motivation in life. To be better than I was yesterday and the day before.
- Who is your role model and why?
My role model has to be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, simply because of his work ethic and motivational drive in life. He came from a deprived background and yet managed to establish himself as not only a world known wrestler but also a Hollywood star actor. I envy and admire his determination to switch careers and still be as successful. Along with his ability to also branch out and be so dominant in the fitness industry. His daily motivation drives me forward towards my own goals.
- What’s your all-time favourite quote?
So I have a lot of quotes that are deemed as my favourite. I would say the most striking and relevant to the way I want to live my life is a quote written by Kevin Kruse “Life is about making an impact, not making an income”. This is one of my favourites as I feel most people forget or have forgotten its importance.
- What’s the best thing about travelling?
The best thing about travelling has to be witnessing all the different backgrounds, cultures and heritages the world has to offer. It’s so easy to meet new people as well as gain knowledge on the hardships certain individuals have had to face in their past, making you cherish your own experiences in life. Travelling also allows us to look upon views we could only imagine exist in our dreams. Views and landscapes that are completely different to our own.
- What’s your favourite country to travel to and why?
As of just recently my favourite country to travel has to be Slovenia. I have just spent just close to 2 months living there and in that time I was able to travel to 3 different countries all just hours away. Its location is perfect for exploring central Europe as well as the country itself offering beautiful picturesque sights. From lakes and mountains to forests and waterfalls. There is a reason why they call Ljubljana the greenest capital in Europe as it really is.
- What 3 things has travelling taught you?
Travelling has taught me many things over the years but I’d say the most important 3 things I have learnt would be patience, gratitude and perspective.
- What’s the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you while travelling?
I would have to say out of all the things that have happened to me whilst travelling, the funniest by far is the time I fell asleep in the sun. It was a few years back and I was on a family holiday in Spain. I took all the essential items for a full day of tanning out in the sun. However, I ended up falling asleep…for a long time, 8 hours in total. Within these 8 hours, I had no sun cream on and I didn’t move an inch. Once I woke up I realised I fell asleep with my hand on my stomach. Needless to say, I couldn’t take my top off for the rest of the 2-week holiday. Not because of the burn but because I was red all over apart from a massive, white hand print from where it had been resting on my body.
- Where are you based now, and why do you love it?
I am based now sadly in Blackpool, UK (for educational studies). I say sadly as I will be doing little to no traveling this year. However, I do love this place because it’s home. Home is where the heart is after all and yes, it’s wet, bleak and dull for most of the year, but when the weather is nice and hot Blackpool can be such a beautiful place to visit!
